Why Keskersay?
You have worked long and hard to get your possessions and to lose them, or worse have them stolen, can be heartbreaking. You think it cannot get any worse, but it can.
The police have had a lucky break and recovered your property, undamaged. A sense of joy and relief return, momentarily because of the chilling question "Now Sir/Madam can you identify these goods as being yours?". You would think a motor vehicle is the easiest thing in the world to identify. but is it? The number plates have been removed, probably sold on to someone else to use, the VIN (vehicle identification number) plate has been removed and the engine serial number filed away, worse still somebody else could be driving your car and claims it is theirs! Unfortunately these cases happen.
Think how much more difficult this could be with: a caravan, a pet, a piece of jewellery, a painting. How can you prove your possessions ever belonged to you? Fortunately, we now have the answer. For a modest amount you can subscribe to the Keskersay website and store details of any or all your possessions. Scan in your original purchase receipts, certificates of provenance, deeds, etc. any document that shows you have ownership together with photographic evidence. It is particularly helpful if you can photograph any particular features easily identifiable to you (its yours, after all) that would not be obvious to the casual observer. This could be a simple dent, scratch or some identification mark unique to you. All this information is stored on a password-protected database accessible only to you. Additionally, you would have a brief description of the goods, preferably with a photograph, that can be accessed by anyone - but not that can be traced back to you - after all, we don not want to make it easy for the thief do we? The benefit of this is that if someone finds your goods they can look on the website and send you an email with the good news. Or, if they are offered something for sale they can search the website to see if the item is listed there. For this reason it is advisable, if something goes missing, to place it on our lost or stolen site. Or, if you want to sell something, place it on the For Sale site.
